His main activity was that of teaching at school and of preaching. He was successively appointed superior at Parma, Trento, Udine, Rome and Pavia. He was the first parish priest at S. Croce in Rome. Many female religious Congregations appreciated his work. When he died in Pavia, a great crowd participated in his funeral as a sign of appreciation for his impressive dedication to ministry.
