Fr. Carlos, better known as ‘Padre Teto’, was born at Barretos (SP) on the 1st July 1944, the son of Dirceu Alves Ferreira and Maria Auxiliadora Brandão Ferreira.
He entered our Congregation as an adult and followed his theological studies with the other seminarians at Curitiba, in the house adjacent the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes. There he was ordained a deacon on the 8th December 1979 and a priest on the 25th January 1980.
Fr. Teto carried out his first apostolic ministry in the communities of S. Cruz Province and then, as from 1995, he joined S. José Province working at Luziânia (GO), in the parish of S. Lucia, practically until today.
He gave his valuable pastoral contribution in the central parish and then he took care of the many rural communities in the very vast area surrounding the city of Luziânia. He followed with particular attention the Church movement “Notre Dame” (Equipe de Nossa Senhora) as a chaplain.
In his latest months he felt some breathing problems and was then admitted to the local hospital. There he contracted a vicious infection. Readmitted to the UTI Hospital at Goiânia, he was given a new therapy and sent home to recover. He stayed for a brief period in our Seminary, but on the 25th May 2011 he had to be again hospitalized. The infection resulted to be fatal and he passed away on the morning of the 1st June 2011.
